Christmas time!

In four days, it will be Christmas! This holiday is very significant to me, because all my family is coming to spend Christmas Eve in Albacete together. Years before it haven’t been the most important holiday, but this year we are many women and hardly any men. It is awesome!

First of all, I miss my cousins and my aunt, who are living in Valencia and they come to Albacete very little, but it is true that we take the chance to see us very time it appears. Moreover, my family is very big and we are eleven grandsons, so it is chaotic and also funny.

Secondly, this holiday is time to eat, something that I loved and my grandmother is the best cook in the world, so I’m sure I will enjoy dinning. Furthermore, everybody is helping with the dinner, something wonderful and fair to all. Therefore, if something tastes bad, we will blame it on one of my cousins due to their limited exposure to cooking.

Finally, my mother is the queen of the parties, thus she has prepared a lot of surprises and games to have fun. We have the Wii too, so we can dance and sing.  In addition, rock music will be playing on the radio.

To sum up, these holidays will be very funny and all of my cousins and my brother will be very happy. We will share secretes between us, we will talk about everything and we will able to ply with our youngest cousin, who looks like a cartoon due to his big glasses.   

The globe

The theatre The Globe, is the most representative building of the Elizabethan epoch. It was built in 1599 by the theatrical company The Lord Chamberlain's Men, of the brothers Cuthbert and Richard Burbage. The reason of his construction obeyed economic problems: the company was hiring The Theatre but the high cost of the rent forced them to change to The Curtain, until finally they decided that the best solution was to construct a new one. The building got up in the south bank of the Thames. The plant was octagonal, with a diameter of 30 meters and capacity for 3350 spectators. There was called he The Globe because it was adorned by Hercules' image loading on the shoulders the sphere of the universe. In The Globe there had the premiere some of the most famous pieces of Shakespeare: Julius Caesar or Macbeth.

In 1613 it suffered a fire that destroyed it almost totally, though one year later it was reconstructed. In 1644 it was demolished by the pressure of the puritans, who saw in the theatre an indecorous expression. Finally, in 1997 it returned to open with the name of The Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. Though the new construction was located to 200 meters of the original emplacement and with a minor capacity, the original design of the building was respected.

Nowadays, the Shakespeare Globe Theatre offers plays from May until October like his predecessor was doing it in times of Shakespeare. Besides the works, the theatre can be crossed by guided visits in which there appear the steps divided in zones of different prices depending on the social class that was frequenting them. During the visits also it is possible to see the scene and his secret peep-holes that were making sprout the prominent figures of Shakespeare, both of the sky and of the hell.

The visits are realized by a guide of English speech and the price of the tickets changes depending of the seats, though tickets can be obtained without seat from 5 pounds. 

The environment

Nowadays, people are not really concerned with the environment and, if you look around, you will see amounts of rubbish everywhere, something very sad. It is nearly the most important problem in our society, because the environment is the place where we live and we have the power and the duty to look after it. In contrast, many people pollute all the time throwing rubbish, driving old cars which liberate millions of exhaust fumes that produce air pollution. In this way, we are being condemned to pay for it in different ways such as: droughts, floods, diseases caused by the pollution, died animals and plants, etc. so we need short-term measures.

With this in mind, we have to solve it with different measures. As many of us are not political people, we must do it form house: recycling our wastes and not buying real fur clothes, for example. Moreover, we can take to the streets to demand to political parties pore conscience and dedication to solve theses problems. But, on the contrary, a lot of people let garbage buried us.

Otherwise, my family and I do our best every day to prevent irreparable problems such as the climate change doing actions like using public transports and recycling. Furthermore, we try to convince people to do that, because we think it is a serious problem and the society must change his minds. Besides, we love traveling and we have seen countries where everything is recycled and they live happier and better.

To sum up, all of us must take seriously these problems if we want to live better and longer, because the environment is who provides us food, house and clothing. Without it, we are noting and we are condemned to survive instead of live.

the purpose of education

Educating people is, at the moment, a very useful tool that is controlled by a small number of persons. They are in broad terms, the politics, who are more worried about winning elections over and over again. It is a horrible system because of the results: students –at school, at high school or at the University- are confused every four years and the educational achievement falls enormously. Therefore, the purpose of education is, at the moment, to instruct students to vote for one or another political party.

First of all, children start school at the age of six or seven years after three years of kindergarten. Here, they are taught to behave properly and to solve simple calisthenics of the different subjects. Thus, teachers are not only people who teach children how to make a mathematics exercise, but they are educators. Moreover, they are, along whit parents, the adult figures in which children are fixed, so they should be objective from the first time and taught them to be independent.

Secondly, education should be transmitted in a freeway, because everybody has the same rights and no one must be remote from education. Furthermore, is very important to have a way in where be able to obtain a little bit of knowledge. It is not necessary that be school, but is a good place to learn, because kids are with kids and they are taught to help each other and to meet new people, something essential to grow up as persons.

Finally, the upgrading of technologies are a great way to improve our educational system. Therefore, if everybody has internet access, everyone can get information about everything, but education is the way to show how we have to use technological devices, because we can search for a lot of information, but it is possible not to know how or what I am reading or using that.

In conclusion, the purpose of education is to teach us to make our best in the world and to be successful people who can face our life without problems. If we were not taught from an early age, we would not be able to be serious people who could talk about everything we wanted to.

my future job

When I finish my Degree in English Studies, I would like to traduce books, because I thing that I have quite a lot of talent for translation. Since I was a child, I love translating lyrics from a lot of songs and I really like reading, so it would be the perfect job to me. Otherwise, teaching is another career ladder which is very beautiful too. So, I do not know exactly what I’m going to do in the future, but every option is perfect to me.

On the one hand, I would like studying a master of translation due to my passion for literary English and American texts, especially romantic texts. It is due to a teacher who taught me a lot of universal literature and he managed to open my mind and, if finally I became a teacher, I would like to teach as well as him. Moreover, teaching is, in my opinion, the most important profession, because people will be people after a good education. Therefore, I am very concerned with that aspect: being a good teacher is not easy, it requires master everything in your subjects and gaining experience, which will manage to be a good teacher.

On the other hand, translation has a lot of advantages such as working freelance. This is an interesting point of view to me, because I like working alone and without depending on anybody. In addition, working surrounded by books is something exciting to me. Reading is one of my favourite ways to spend time. Therefore, working doing something that you loves, is the best opportunity you will have in your life. This is a chance which is impossible to refuse.

To sum up, I do not know what I will do when I finish my degree, but I am sure that I will be very happy and, if I did something like those possibilities, I would like working abroad, because I love travelling and knowing new places where live a period of time more or less long. I am a restless person and my job must be accordance with my personality. 

the end of the story

He is waiting to jump, but he is not decided. There are many people looking at him on the street asking them what he is doing or what is he going to do. Then, a man get closer to the built and say: “I love her”. These words hurt his heart like a knife and it manage him to jump. While he is falling, he remembered their first date and a few seconds later, he was there! It was incredible, he has travelled through the time and he and his ex-girlfriend were together again! He thought that it could not be possible, but it was. They were in a beautiful restaurant, sat in a table next to an enormous window which showed the Atlantic Ocean blowing with reflects of the stars such as small pearls, the most beautiful pearls that he have ever seen. The time let him another chance. 

Hemingway

The main theme of his works is the relationship between the modern alone person and the death and the others. His novels refuse the existence of a <common life>: the job, house and friends, but it is also what his characters want to have and they cannot reach. For them, the end of the way is the death. Therefore, the resignation is <the feeling which precedes the liquidation>. His protagonists need to see their life going to borderline situations- wars, bullfights and hunt- to feel alive, but in the search they are condemned to the self-destruction, which sometimes includes destroying others. Moreover, the characters are in need of love because, in general, they have lonely and injured lives, and they try to hide their vulnerability with a cap of pride, indifference or cynicism. But Hemingway provides intense movements where his protagonists experiment positive feelings such as tenderness, fraternity, passion or happiness, although in the end is the death who win the game.

technology

Nowadays, technology is improving astonishingly fast, so everybody want to have a laptop, a microwave oven or whatever that helps us to do our labours more fast  and more easy than many years ago. But this progress have made an impact on the society and it is producing teen social media addition. Therefore, some inventions that looked like a key breakthrough now, they are creating a generation addict to the Internet and many youngsters stalk in Facebook and they are more interested in other people’s life than in theirs.

On the one hand, electronic gadgets are used as tools to work faster and it is something incredible. Moreover, we can forward a message whenever we want and we also can navigate websites where there are a lot of different things to do or see, like launching a car that you do not want any more, etc.

But, on the other hand, young people are always going online and they are completely absorved in the computer or in the mobile phone. Likewise, their relationships out of technology are getting worse and we choose to pick up our mobile than talking face to face.

To sum up, if technology were used to make our life easier and better, teenagers would not be techno-lovers who only use their mobiles to take a photograph and publish it on the Internet. So, in conclusion, technology is a great invention that should be used to be more intelligent; as Albert Einstein once said: ‘I fear the day technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots’. 

education

At the moment, education is imparted by parents and teachers, but not in the same way. Therefore, boys and girls spend long hours at school, so many times, teachers are more responsible than parents in educating. This is a problem because of the preparation of school teachers, who study a degree which is, in Spain, for example, a complete disaster, because there are people studying that do not know what a kid is really. In contrast, there are northern countries such as Finland where teachers are the most prepared people, a very interesting point of view.

Firstly, teachers provide training for young people based on passing exams, which forces people to make an effort that will disappear after doing the exam. Because of it, if teachers taught children to learn, children would be able to earn a living in an easier way and find employment will be less difficult too.   Therefore, we pass our life receiving a grade, but we need to go beyond and be prepared to face new challenges, something very important nowadays.

Secondly, parents are increasingly permissive. It is seen everyday on the streets, where kinds -and no so kids- use their mobile phones all the time and they misbehave too much, adding that they never apologise. Moreover, there are kids who don’t work hard and they are not subsequently with their actions. For example, if they don’t pass an exam, they will have another one indefinitely, and it I not as punished as it should be.

In conclusion, parents and teachers should start earlier to educate children and they should change me method too, because they have the full responsibility on the children, which are immerse in a society that is more preoccupied in passing exams than in learning, an aspect that must be changed by everyone.

my family

     My family is formed by a lot of people who are very different from each other, but all of them have a good sense of humour, so I have fun every time I see them. Meeting the family is a great pastime, isn’t it?

On the one hand, there is my mother’s side family, which is formed by my four aunts and mother, nine cousins and my grandmother. I’m the eldest cousin and the youngest is just a tiny tot, so he is particularly spoilt. He also wear glasses and it makes him so cute and he looks like a cartoon. Moreover, it is too easy to make a fool out of him and his brother, but we never fight with them seriously. My other cousins are portly guys in spite of being younger than me, so when were kids, they was like giants for me. In addition, my brother, who is only one year younger than me, is a fiercely loyal person and he had a striking appearance.

    Secondly, my aunts are like my older sisters because of their age, so I have family support on them. All of them has slender waist and lovely complexion. They are also very funny and I love spare time with them. Furthermore, my mother is the oldest and she is someone highly intelligent who looks after everyone.

     Thirdly, there is my grandmother. She is an only child who has managed to form a really nice family. She is my most admired family member, because she is always laughing despite a very hard past, when he lost her sister, father and her late husband. But she never gives up and she loves meeting the family whenever she can.  She is a medium height person and she has got short white hair. I would like to be like her when I have her age.

    On the other hand, there is my father’s side family. It is not as big as the other one, but I like too. I’m going to emphasize the figure of my eldest cousin. He is a person who has lived with his single mother until now. He has never had a stable home, but he is a strong person that never make snap decisions because of his personality: he has a razor-sharp mind, so I love going out with him. Therefore, I like telling everything, because he is good keeping secrets, which run in the family.

      Finally, I’m going to talk about my father. He is a person who I admired too much and is the one who put me first in all decisions. I think he is the father everybody would like to have in his life, so I am so proud to be her daughter and to have a parents and a brother like mine.

      In conclusion, I don’t know what the most admired family member is, but I really know that I look like all my family members in small things. For this reason, I would like to be as much alike as now in the future.

Nowadays, technology manage ad men to create new forms of advertising which is used to convince young people about the advantages of a product that probably is not as well as the advert shows. If the right ingredients are mixed, it will be a succesful advert. These ingredients could be for example: a powerful slogan that everybody remind, striking and powerful images and show known people like top footballers.

Therefore, many young people see on the TV other youngsters who are drinkining spirits and they think it is a good idea. It is due to the scenes that are representated on the advert. Normally, beer adverts show people laughing and they are having fun all the time, so teenagers would like to be like them without thinking about consecuencies.

Likewise, there are a wide variety of adverts that are thought to be the simple truth by the youth because of the high ninfluence that TV adverts exerct on them. There are car adverts that show graceful vehicles very expensive and young people aspire to get one in the future.

In conclusión, there are TV program adverts, novel adverts, etc. that show a simple product thay you would like to have or see but it have not influence on you. The problem exists on adverts that are ful of lies and change young mind. It should be limited by themselves, doesn’t it?

drinking and smoking on young people

   Nowadays, kids grow up earlier and many of them waste their spare time smoking and drinking. Therefore, modern teenagers start smoking at a very early age. It is a problem, because stop smoking is something difficult and it make a big difference between someone who smokes and drinks too much and someone who knows when is the moment to do it.

    Moreover, these actions affect child’s mood and it doesn’t appear to be differences between teenagers and adults due to the hurry to grow up. Adults have de obligation to fall out their children and suggested them going to a school camp live in a clean, tidy environment, for example and have a happy childhood.

    Furthermore, there are numbers of activities to kick bad habits such as meeting friends and going to local shops, doing sport, drawing, or just doing maths homework can help them to waste time and forget bad habits. In addition, they also can do useful things as housework.

    Another thing they could do is eating healthy. It helps providing nutrients to the brain, so it is easier to have a concentrations and to put aside bad habits, unlike alcohol, which is injurious to health.

      In conclusion, everybody like going out and it must be something good. Because of it, people who smoke and drink don’t have as fun as they think, so adults or just friends must warn about the consequences of having a bad lifestyle.

For or against zoos as a good way of saving endangered animals

      Animal kingdom is suffering in a high degree  consequences of human actions like illegal hunting and fishing, which leads to a high number of endareged animals. Some of them are, for example, bengal tigers or snow leopards. It exists natural effects too that can produce the habitat destruction. For this reason, many people think that zoos are a good way of saving these animals, isn’t it?

       First of all, zoos are not the natural habitat of the animals, in spite of being a really good copy of them. It is very difficult to make a place as similar as some natural enclousers like penguins which are artic animals and they need a very low temperature to live comfortably. There are also animals which have to live in warm zones, like lions, for example.

Secondly, these animals are bred in captivity. Because of it, they are often not fully adapted when the breeders release them. Moreover, sometimes the animals are captured when they are puppies, what leads a very difficult adaptation to the artificial means. Therefore, it does not help endangered animals to protect their breeds.

     To continue, I will say that zoos are over-priced places. Furthermore, there are shops into zoos where cuddly teddy bears are sold, but they have a very high price too. It may seem strange, beacuse those places are supposed to help animals. Likewise, they need some money to try to conserve the animals.

       In conclusion, if I wanted to help animals, I would donate money to an animal protection charity because when I went to a zoo, I only saw zoo animals that have behavioural problems due to their life style and they seem unhappy.

comparison

Punk is a kind of music that developed between 1974 and 1976 in the United States, United Kingdom and Australia. The origin form of the punk was a type of simple rock and something noisily to express his own means and concepts. Therefore, the lyrics of their songs are a critique of the system or social critiques. Moreover, this music is very distinctive because of the clothes and the look: dark colors, torn t-shirts, hair like a comb and boots. The intruments which are used are some like electric guitar, bass and drums,  Sex pistols are a great example of it.

Otherwise, classical music is very relaxed and it helps you to keep calm. This kind of music is also earlier than punk.  It is only music, but there are some kinds of interpretations like the opera which include beautiful voices. Besides, the musicians wore fancy clothes with warm colours and patterns or suits. Another difference is that they used instruments such us violins, piano, cellos, etc. An exaple of musicians could be Beethoven.

                                   

                                   

Global issues

   At the moment, poverty is one of the most important problems in the world and we must solve it. First of all, the main cause of the problem is the human greed, which leads the humanity to an envious world. If we conitued gruelling resources from the Third world, people who live there never would have an education or a good live style.

   A possible solution to this problem could be the well-known concept of global basic income, which consits of giving to everybody a basic income of money to help them cover their necesities and their personal aspirations. Moreover, making an equative distribution of global resources, such as petrol or gold, and not trying to give everything to the same countires could be a second solution.

  To sum up, poverty is something horrible and all of us have the same rights and we should live comfortably. 

opinion paragraph

The public education should be priority for the leaders of our country. From the beginning of this new legislature, the public education has been relegated to the second or third plane and it mustn’t be tolerated in a developed country like this one. The aids have not been destined to this kind of centres but to private centres. Public education is better than private because everyone can obtein a very good level of culture and it is free, so many people with economic problems can go there. Furthermore, in public centres exist a natural and really good relationships between youngsters than in other private centres. So, if you wanted a better education, you should go a public centre, where the frienddhips are forever.

Viva el Rock

   

   Muse is a British group formed in 1994. They began playing under the name of Rocket Baby Dolls and they won a competition of local bands in  Teignmouth. Then, they decided to change the name of the group and now they are Known as Muse.

   It has got three members, whose names are: Matt Bellamy, the vocalist; Christopher Wolstenholme, the bass; and Dominic Howard, the drummer. The first one has a really nice voice. It seems Mercury’s voice, so many magazines say this group is the new Queen. Morevover, their songs are very innovatives and they introduce new sounds on every new disc.

   The first one was Showbiz, in 1999, but, in my opinión, the second one, “Origin of Symmetry”, is one of the best together with the last one, “Drones”. In spite of being the last one, they and a lot of people think that it is the best, which is not normal in other big groups.

    Finally, I’m going to say that i’m expecting to go to their concert, but it is very difficult because tickets are sold in a matter of minutes. So I hope to go as soon as I can.
